Mother/daughter team head to Honolulu for marathon

Tina and Haley before the runTina Fisher and her daughter, Haley Maddocks, are heading to Honolulu, to participate in the Honolulu Marathon as first time runners and members of the Joints in Motion Training Team.

Haley, 15, is a North Royalton High School student and cross-country team member. Tina is the owner of www.CareerComm.com, a North Royalton based resume writing firm. Their adopted slogan is, “It’s all about the Fun/draising!” They will be coached for success through the Joints in Motion 10-week marathon training program which is designed to guide people of all ages and fitness levels through an extensive training program.

They are among approximately 80% of Joints in Motion athletes who have never run or walked a marathon before. Given careful guidance and encouragement, nearly all the members go the 26.2 mile distance and cross the finish line. In addition to training and running the marathon, TIna and Haley will invest equal time and energy in raising their combined $12,000 goal for the Arthritis Foundation.

Plans include working at the Foundation's Cleveland Indians food concession booth, a teens' FUNdraising deck and pool party, an adults' FUNdraising Happy Hour on the Boat, a FUNdraising Golf Outing and a resume writing "Discount for Donation" program.

Their Northeast Ohio team will be joined by Arthritis Foundation Teams from all across the country at a start time of 5a.m., December 14, 2003, to support arthritis research and community based support and education for the 70 million men, women and children affected by arthritis and related diseases.

Money raised through events like the Joints in Motion program funds the research and community programs that improve lives. For more information on the Joints in Motion Training Program you can contact Michelle Wohlfeiler, Joints in Motion Coordinator at 1.800.254.2275 xt100.
